Moorfields Completes Sale of Newspaper House in Blackburn

Leading property specialists Moorfields Advisory, have successfully completed the sale of Newspaper House, a prominent residential apartment block in the centre of Blackburn.

The property comprises 74 apartments, converted from office space to residential use in 2018, and occupies a prime location in Blackburn’s town centre.

Moorfields were appointed as Receivers in February 2025. At the time of appointment, the property was subject to an enforcement notice requiring significant fire compartmentalisation works. Moorfields managed the completion of these works enabling the enforcement notice to be lifted and a sale to proceed to an overseas purchaser.

Steven Sartin, Senior Director at Moorfields Advisory, said: “We are delighted to have completed the sale of Newspaper House, a landmark property in Blackburn’s town centre. Demand for well-located residential assets remains strong, and this transaction demonstrates the resilience of the market and the value of proactive asset management. By resolving complex compliance issues and delivering essential fire safety works, we were able to unlock the property’s potential and secure an excellent outcome for all stakeholders. We are confident the building will continue to provide attractive returns for the new owner.”
