Moorfields Completes Sale of York Street Residential Block in Leicester

Moorfields is pleased to announce the successful completion of the sale of a seven‑storey residential block at Yoho, York Street, Leicester.

Originally constructed in 2019 as purpose‑built student accommodation, the property comprised 132 self‑contained student flats. Following an extraordinary incident, the building suffered extensive vandalism and damage, requiring swift and decisive action. Moorfields was appointed as Joint Receivers on 5 June 2024 to take control, secure the site and oversee the disposal.

Upon appointment, Moorfields implemented robust security measures and prepared a remedial works programme. A significant refurbishment exercise was undertaken, returning the property to operational condition, safeguarding its value and maximising the position for stakeholders. To enhance marketability, the Receivers applied for and secured planning consent in July 2025 for a change of use to 118 managed short‑term residential units. The sale of the property completed on 5 November 2025 to a local authority.

Milan Vuceljic, Joint Receiver, Moorfields Advisory

“We are delighted to have successfully concluded the sale of this landmark building. Our team worked tirelessly to restore the property while taking steps to enhance its value for stakeholders. Every obstacle was overcome, and the outcome achieved will benefit the wider local community.”
