UK arm of Upmarket Women’s Fashion Brand Basler
Moorfields were appointed as Joint Administrators of the UK arm of upmarket women’s fashion brand Basler on 1 September 2017.
Basler UK was a subsidiary of the long-established Basler Fashion Group GmbH, headquartered in Goldbach, Germany, which also operated across Europe, the United States, and Australia.
Following the failure of a sale process during the parent company’s restructuring in Germany, Basler Fashion Group entered liquidation, resulting in the UK business entering administration.
Basler UK operated three own-brand stores (Bond Street, Chichester, and Epsom), a factory outlet in York, 17 concessions, and supplied over 100 wholesale customers across the UK and Ireland.
Objectives
- Maintain trading across the UK operations to fulfil wholesale and retail commitments.
 - Maximise recoveries through stock liquidation and asset realisation.
 - Preserve brand value while ensuring an orderly wind-down of the UK business.

Moorfields’ Actions
- Continued to trade Basler UK operations to fulfil wholesale orders and maintain customer confidence.
 - Implemented a structured stock liquidation strategy through all retail outlets and concessions.
 - Engaged with key stakeholders, including landlords, suppliers, and employees, to manage operational continuity.
 - Supported communications with customers and the media, ensuring transparency and reputation management.
 - Managed the marketing and sale process of remaining assets in alignment with the global restructuring.

Results
- Fulfilment of all existing wholesale orders, protecting supplier relationships and customer goodwill.
 - Successful liquidation of retail stock, generating strong sales performance through discounting campaigns.
 - Controlled administration process, minimising disruption to staff and customers.
 - Delivered a measured outcome for creditors while maintaining the integrity of the Basler brand during transition.
